Shaping the future of family businesses

From the corner store to some of the world’s biggest brands, it is the foundation of a family business that can generate passion and growth. From inventors that create products like the Hills Hoist or a Victa Lawnmower to retail brands like Myer and Woolworths, we all know there was a family idea behind the name.

And while there are many amazing stories of success, there are also numerous tales of woe where small businesses haven’t made it, or have been through cycles of growth and failure. What does it take to keep a family business evolving? What lessons can we learn from both the winners and losers in these stories?

On The Kick today, we’re talking with a returning guest, Susanne Bransgrove from Women in Family Business. Susanne is a Family Business Specialist, Thought Leader, and entrepreneur. We will also be finding out about her upcoming Elevate Summit at Sirromet Winery in August this year.

Growing up in Germany, as part of a third-generation family business, Susanne intimately understands the range of issues that exist when being part of a family business, and trying to meet the needs of multiple generations.

Experience has shown her that having support, especially for the emotions, is key to wellbeing when you’re part of a long-term business. That’s why Susanne is passionate about supporting other women in family business, so they can create a positive, lasting impact in their own family business.
