Why you should talk to your marketing team more

Time to read: 4 minutes

Here’s a little secret from our side of the fence.  The best campaigns almost always come from the clients who talk to us the most.

Not because they’re on the phone every five minutes, and not because they know the ins and outs of SEO or Google Ads. It’s simpler than that. They just keep us in the loop on what’s happening in their business.

The reality is, we’re good at a lot of things, but mind reading isn’t always one of them! 🙂 We can only market what we know about. So when something changes in your world, the sooner we hear about it, the better we can do our job for you.

Let me walk you through the kinds of things that are absolute gold for us to know. Some of these might feel too small to mention. Tell us anyway.

This one’s a biggie.

A new website is exciting, but it can quietly undo a lot of hard-won marketing progress if we’re not looped in. Page URLs change, content shifts around, and if the right redirects aren’t in place, your Google rankings can take a hit overnight.

If we know it’s coming, we can make sure your SEO carries across, your tracking keeps working, and your ad campaigns keep pointing to the right pages. A quick heads up before you go live saves a world of pain later.

Let us know when a service changes

Are you offering something new? Winding down a service you used to love? Or just wanting to put less energy into one area and more into another?

These changes matter a lot to us.

If you’ve launched a new service, that’s a brand new opportunity for leads, and we’ll want to build it into your campaigns and your website. If you’re phasing something out, there’s no sense in us spending your budget sending you enquiries for work you don’t want anymore.

Just a heads up lets us point your marketing at the things that actually make you money.

Tell us if you're moving, opening, or closing a location

Location is a huge deal for your marketing, especially locally.

If you’re moving premises, opening a second spot, or closing one down, it affects your Google Business Profile, your local SEO, the areas we target in your ads, and the addresses listed all over your website.

Get this wrong and you can end up sending customers to an old address, or advertising in a suburb you no longer service. Let us know early and we’ll get everything updated so your marketing follows you wherever you go.

Tell us whether you want to grow or steady the ship

This is one of the most useful things you can share with us, and it often goes unsaid.

Are you in a growth phase and hungry for as many leads as you can handle? Or are you comfortably busy right now and just want to keep things ticking over without overwhelming the team?

There’s no wrong answer here. But the two goals call for very different strategies.

If you’re chasing growth, we can push harder, widen your reach, and turn up the dials. If you’re in a holding pattern, we can focus on stability and efficiency instead of flooding you with enquiries you can’t service.

Either way, we’d much rather hear it from you than guess.

A few more things worth a mention

While we’re at it, here are some other updates that always help us out:

You won't annoy us. Promise. 👋

If there’s one thing to take away from all this, it’s that no update is too small.

We genuinely love hearing what’s happening in your business. Every little detail helps us make smarter decisions with your budget and get you better results. There’s no such thing as bugging your marketing team with too much information.

So next time something shifts, big or small, just shoot us a quick message. A two line email can make a real difference to what we’re able to do for you.

We’re on your team, and the more we know, the better we can play the game together.

Got a question or an update to share? Get in touch with your Excite Media contact any time. We’d love to hear from you!
